OBJECTIVES
The objectives of this Symposium are to promote interaction among scientists, technicians, students and growers, and to encourage cooperation in the development of future research projects. Because this is the first time that the International Symposium on Olive Growing will take place in the Southern Hemisphere, special emphasis will be focused on the challenges of olive growing in non-traditional regions as well as on the diversity of growing conditions that can be encountered.
During the Symposium, participants will have the opportunity to visit local olive groves and industrial oil facilities to discover the unique circumstances that have led to the development of the Argentinean olive industry. Furthermore, the aim of sharing new knowledge and developments with olive growers, contributions dealing with topics of interest for the local olive industry will be selected and simultaneously translated into Spanish during the "open-day" for registered professionals.
OBJETIVOS
El objetivo principal del simposio es promover el vínculo entre científicos, técnicos, estudiantes y productores, fomentando el desarrollo de futuros proyectos cooperativos de investigación. Dado que esta será la primera vez que el Simposio Mundial del Olivo se realice en el hemisferio sur, se pondrá especial atención en los desafíos de la olivicultura en regiones no tradicionales.
Durante el simposio, los participantes visitarán plantaciones e industrias olivícolas locales y conocerán las circunstancias particulares que condujeron el desarrollo olivícola argentino. Además, con el fin de compartir los nuevos conocimientos y avances tecnológicos con técnicos y productores locales, aquellas contribuciones relacionadas con tópicos de interés serán seleccionados y simultáneamente traducidas al idioma español durante el "día abierto" para profesionales.
